14th December 2014 Peterborough EMC

Ampthill U15’s travelled to Peterborough for their East Midlands Cup quarter final fixture and on a bright and breezy morning got off to an unsteady start conceding a try in only the fourth minute. Ampthill regrouped and went on to dominate large parts of the play with good possession and control but on 19 minutes they conceded a breakaway try from deep in their own half and took oranges at 10 points to nil down.

The second half continued in the same vain with Amps securing plenty of possession, especially in the lineouts where Joe Cafferty dominated, but due to very good Peterborough defence they were unable to cross the whitewash.  The last score of the match came on 39 minutes with the Peterborough backs running a good try into the corner to finish with a 15 points to nil win.

A disappointing result for the boys but in a very good close contested match in which Ampthill battled hard and played well.

Next Sunday they will host Biggleswade in an eagerly awaited Beds. Cup semi final fixture at Dillingham Park Ampthill.
