The 2015 U15s Beds Cup final took place at Dillingham Park Ampthill with ideal playing conditions and in front of a good size crowd.
Early exchanges saw Ampthill playing down the slope and pressure being created on the Dunstable defence with some deep probing kicks. Ampthill had a large amount of the possession but were unable to trouble the scoreboard with nervous hands, at times, spilling some decent ball. Joe Cafferty was again dominant in the lineouts and flankers Josh Wright and Soni Ma-Asi both having strong performances with Marcus Lake making good runs and brave tackles. Ampthills pressure finally lead to winger Henry Regan crossing the whitewash in the corner with 19 minutes gone after breaking through some good defensive tackles and to a big roar from the home crowd. As Dunstable also settled into their game and looked to get onto the scoreboard the game became a good contest. Ampthills second try, though, on 24 minutes from Charlie Fleckney was a killer just before half-time with Ampthill leading 10 points to nil at oranges.
The half-time talk was about keeping a good solid game going and the importance of the next score. This fortunately came very early, Liam Everitts high restart kick was chased down by the Ampthill forwards and resulted in Dunstable knocking on the attempted catch. A good shove from the Ampthill pack saw the ball moved out to the backs with centre Kyle McSwiggan setting Eugene Ekuban free on the left wing where he made a 15 metre run through attempted tackles to finish a very good try in the corner. Marcus Lake completed the scoring for Ampthill with a brave run to cross the line and notch up Ampthills fourth try of the game with still 15 minutes to go. Dunstable scored a late consolation try to make the score Ampthill 20, Dunstable 7 and the final whistle came shortly after much to the joy of the Ampthill players, coaches and supporters. Captain Aaron Foll collected the splendid trophy on behalf of his side who had all contributed to a great performance.
