The 1881’s finished another strong season as Runners Up in the Raging Bull Shield Division One to perennial winners Richmond Vikings who were again formidable opponents!
The 1881s played 22 games under the captaincy of Gavin Williams, winning 18 and drawing 1 whilst scoring 585 points in the process. It is notable that the only defeats came against Richmond teams – the Vikings and the Saxons!
At the annual awards presentation, Josh Sharp was named Players Player of the Season and Bailey Thomas Coaches Player of the Season. During the season six members of Ampthill Academy made their Senior Rugby debuts for the 1881!
The 1881s look forward to resuming battle with the Vikings in September and to being represented by even more of the 2021-22 season Ampthill Academy graduates.
