Elliot Clements-Hill, Darrel Dyer, Kiefer Laxton & William Maisey Leave Ampthill
Fullback/wing Elliot Clements-Hill (22), has signed for Bedford Blues for 2016-17 where he re-joins his former Ampthill team mate Dean Adamson. Playing for Ampthill in 2013-14 in National 2 South Elliot was the national leagues leading point scorer while his partnership with Adamson saw them share 45 tries between them. He joined Plymouth Albion in the Championship for the following season where his opportunities were limited due to injury and the team’s struggles before rejoining Ampthill for their National 1 debut in 2015-16 where he finished the season with 229 pts including 15 tries.
Back row Darrell Dyer (23) and fly half William Maisey (23) have both signed for Coventry for 2016-17.
Darrell made his National 1 debut in 2012/13 for Cambridge before joining Ampthill for National 2 for the next two seasons where he made 46 appearances, many on the wing. In 2014/15 he made 3 appearances for Bedford Blues in the Championship & British & Irish Cup. An ever present in National 1 this season he established himself in the back row where his strength and finishing prowess saw him score 12 tries.
Will returns to Coventry where he made 21 appearances in National 1 between 2011 & 2014 before joining Nottingham for the following season where he played both in the Championship and the British & Irish Cup. Joining Ampthill for 2015-16 Will was an ever present covering every position in the backs.
Kiefer Laxton joined Ampthill in time for pre-season 2015-16 from Nottingham where he made 15 appearances in the Championship & and the British & Irish Cup. Injured before the start of the season he made his only appearance for Ampthill in National 1 in April off the bench.
DoR Mark Lavery comments “I’d like to thank Elliot, Darrell and Will for their contribution to Ampthill’s debut National 1 campaign. All three have been regulars in the match day squad when fit and have been an integral part of the team’s on field success. Kiefer was very unlucky to carry an injury throughout the season which limited his opportunities. Ampthill wish them all the very best for the future where I’m sure their dedication and commitment will be rewarded appropriately.”
