Ampthill U15s entered into their final league game of the season knowing they needed a good win against London Scottish to achieve promotion in this final weekend of Herts/Middx fixtures.
With home advantage, great playing conditions and the sun shining the whitewash had barely dried when Soni Ma-Asi crossed for Ampthills first try in the second minute of the match. Further tries followed in the first 15 minutes
from Alex Evans, Kyle McSwiggan and Charlie Fleckney along with two conversions from Liam Everitt which saw Ampthill leading 24 points to nil. The later part of the half though saw London Scottish come back into the game and dominating territory as Ampthill seemed to sit back. The hard work from Scottish saw them cross the line for an unconverted try before half time and oranges were taken at 24 points to 5.
Ampthill got back into their game at the start of the second half and flanker George Odell coming on at half time was the first to score 10 minutes after the restart. The flood gates then opened and Ampthill were able to run a further 5 tries in with Max Noble, Charlie Fleckney, Kyle McSwiggan, Man of the Match Josh Wright and Tom Murray all scoring. With 3 further conversions the final score was 60 points to 5 in Ampthills favour which secured a vital bonus point and, with the improved points scored difference, promotion alongside London Wasps was won.
With the Beds Cup final win last week and now promotion secured, a great season has come to an end and the lads can look forward to tough fixtures next season.
