In between the Christmas and New Year break and a period of down time for most of the Ampthill Mini & Youth, a few Mini & Youth players from all age groups represented the club at Northampton Saints before watching their premiership fixture v Gloucester on Saturday.
Ampthill RUFC Mini & Youth were selected as the ‘Club of the Match’ for the fixture and this gave them the opportunity not only to watch the Saints in action, in an entertaining victory in the afternoon but also receive a coaching session pre-game provided by Northampton Saints Coaches ably assisted by some of the Saints First XV squad players, one of whom was ex-Ampthill prop forward Karl Garside.
Following the training the U12’s were presented with a signed Saints shirt from Fraser Dingwall, Saints & England U20 centre, during a Q&A session.
In addition Ampthill U14 players Rhys Spavins and Ollie Milward became match announcers for the afternoon whilst players from the U11’s and U12’s were the Guard Of Honour. Players from U9’s, U10’s, U13’s and U14’s also assisted on the day with the holding of the ‘Big Shirt’ as the players entered onto the pitch.
A great morning and afternoon for those that went along.
