Ampthill RUFC Pitches

Dear Members, Players and Supporters,

As you’re all aware, the off-season is our opportunity to prepare the pitches for the upcoming rugby season. However, as has been the case in recent years, ongoing weather challenges have made this task even more difficult.

I’m writing to share the agreed plan with our groundsman to give us the best possible chance of having four playable pitches available by the start of the season in September.

Pitches 1 and 2 are now out of use until further notice.  It is unlikely they will be available before mid-September at the earliest.

Work on Pitches 3 and 4 will begin immediately. The aim is to have Pitch 3 ready for the Army game on 6th September, as well as any potential 1st XV friendlies.

Senior training will resume at the club in August. The 1st XV will train on Pitch 4 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, while community teams can also use pitch 4 to train on Wednesday and Friday evenings.  Wherever possible, please carry out fitness training in the dead ball areas or on the bank to protect the pitches.

There will be no mini, youth, girls or academy training at the club until the season officially begins.

We understand how difficult it is to balance the need for essential pitch maintenance with providing access for all teams. While we would love to offer unlimited training availability, that simply isn’t feasible at this time.

Thank you all for your understanding and support.
