Following yesterday’s Government announcement that the majority of the country will move into Tiers 3 and 4 as of today, the RFU wanted to provide a reminder of Tier implications for community rugby.
While these continue to be extremely difficult times for everyone involved, it was a huge boost to hear Government say that yesterday’s approval of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is the single biggest stride we’ve been able to take since the pandemic began and will provide a route out of the crisis.
However, for now, with the new variant of the virus estimated to be over 50% more transmissible than the original, it is vital that we all adhere to Covid-19 guidance until we reach a stage where restrictions can gradually be lifted.
The RFU has stated that Clubs in a Tier 4 area should cancel any upcoming adult training/fixtures and that organised outdoor sport for Under 18’s and disabled people will be allowed.
Ampthill & District Community Rugby Club have decided that there will be no training this weekend and this will be reviewed on a weekly basis.
The first team players are permitted to train under the RFU’s elite return to play protocols.
