U13’s
Ampthill/Bedford U13 Girls played away at Aylesbury last Sunday against Fullerians and an Aylesbury/ Bletchley composite team.
The opposition were well drilled and formidable however due to the Ampthill girl’s discipline and focus on the basics, such as rucks and mauls backed up with constant support the girls played and won the 4 games played.
The girls effort and hard work in training is starting to pay off and they are looking to build on the foundations being built.

A tough day for the Ampthill girls, we got off to our too regular slow start and Fullerians were up for it from the off. Three quick breaks from their wingers quickly put us behind. Our girls regrouped and repeatedly bludgeoned their way up the middle making good ground but we struggled to get over the line. Our rucking and mauling today was some of the best this year but too often our hard work at the breakdown was wasted by slow support and sloppy handling.
Full marks to those who stepped into new positions today, these players put in some of the best performances. Overall a tighter game than the score would suggest, we know where the work needs to go in at training but plenty of positives to take away too.

Ampthill made it three wins in a row with a fine team performance against a mixed side from Aylesbury and Fullerians. Ampthill came out of the blocks quickly and soon established a 0-10 lead with nicely worked tries from centres Koura and Sian. Ampthill’s powerplay from the forwards was too much for the opposition to handle and in the second period A’s ran away with the game scoring 4 more tries from Koura, Megan, Sian and winger Evie who was returning injury, Teo converting two making the final score 0-34. A great all-round performance from the squad and huge thank you to Megan K and Kiera from playing for the opposition and allowing 15 a side to happen. Thank you to Aylesbury Rugby Club for the invite and they have fantastic facilities with the new AGP and redeveloped club house and growing girl’s sides. A team to watch as they develop.
This Sunday U18’s have a RFU Cup match v Peterborough/Cambridge KO 1pm, please come down as support and see if the winning run can continue.
