An exciting first weekend of the Guinness Six Nations Championship with defending champions Ireland looking good beating France in Marseille on Friday night 17 – 38, England recovered from a losing position at half time in Rome to win 24 – 27Â and Scotland withstood a late comeback from Wales to win 26 – 27 in Cardiff.
It’s especially pleasing to see so many players who have represented Ampthill in the National Leagues and more recently The RFU Championship now playing both with and against the very best in the highest level of the elite game. Congratulations to Theo Dan, Ben Earl, Alex Coles, Alex Mitchell, Freddie Steward and Fin Smith of England, and Sam Costelow who started for Wales and good luck for the rest of the competition.
We look forward to seeing some of the current 1st XV and other Championship players representing their countries in years to come – certainly evidence of the pathway and value that the National Leagues and Championship rugby delivers in assisting young players to develop and achieve their potential.
We are showing all of the 6 Nations games live in the Clubhouse and welcome you to join us next weekend! Guinness is only £5.50/pt – 10% less for members, and we’ll have FREE pizza during the England game!
