Vacancy – Head Coach: Ampthill Ladies (Lionesses)

Ampthill & District Community Rugby Club are looking to appoint a Head Coach for the Senior Ladies team – the Lionesses.  The Ladies team has been running for six seasons now and currently compete in the Womens NC 3 Midlands League.

This is a voluntary position, reporting directly to the Director of Rugby and will work collaboratively with the Head Coaches for the Under 18 and Under 16 girls to create a pathway for the girls in these teams to progress to Senior Rugby.

The club has over 100 girls currently registered and playing age-grade rugby, and with many making the East Midlands U16 and U18 representative teams the future of our Senior Ladies Team is very exciting.

The club is installing Women and Ladies specific changing rooms and showers this summer which will attract more players to the club.

Job Role

  • To develop a culture within the Senior Ladies Section to ensure that every player joining the club feels welcome, valued and included.
  • To build a structure within the Senior Ladies Section to ensure that every player joining the club has the best opportunity to realise their goals within the game.
  • To assist the club in developing high calibre players to build a team that is competitive in any league or cup competition entered.
  • Leadership – set an example and standards for the playing squad and coaching team
  • Planning coaching sessions in advance to cover all positions and ability levels.
  • Deliver coaching sessions to mixed ability groups
  • Engage with player pathways to support player development, eg East Mids RFU
  • The individual will be responsible for management of the Assistant Coaches and other volunteer helpers to provide the best experience for everyone involved in the Senior Ladies Team.
  • This is a voluntary role.

 Qualifications & Experience

  • RFU Level 2 Coaching Certificate (essential)
  • Relevant Coaching experience (ideally with ladies)
  • Relevant playing experience (essential)
  • RFU First Aid Certificate (essential)
  • RFU Level 3 Coaching Certificate (Desirable)

Time Commitment

  • The Ladies currently train one night per week during the season and play matches on Sundays. Attendance will be required at all training sessions plus match days. Approx 2 hours per week for training plus prep and planning time. Match days as required.

General Duties

  • Ensure that all players and coaches are adequately supported to create and maintain a pathway of ‘home grown’ players and coaches through the senior section
  • Collaborate with the Directors and Committee within the club to address any areas of concern and action plans in order to address these areas.
  • Work with the Ampthill Rugby Marketing and Commercial Team to identify sponsorship opportunities for team
