The club is excited to announce the appointment of a new Head Coach for the Senior Ladies Team with Siôn James joining the club from St Neots this summer!
Welshman Siôn is working towards his RFU Level 3 Coaching Award and is no stranger to the Ladies game having been Head Coach of St Neots Ladies since 2018 leading them to promotion from NC3 to NC2 in 2022, whilst also working as Backs Coach for East Midlands RFU Women.
The Ampthill Lionesses will compete in NC3 South East (North) next season with games against Aylesbury, Barnes, Ealing, Kilburn Cosmos, Staines and Tabards!
Mark Lavery comments “Siôn was the standout candidate for this position, he’s been around the Women’s game and is an ambitious young coach. With the number of young ladies coming through our Youth set-up aided by the very successful ROAR programme in it’s 3rd season it’s going to an exciting few years ahead for our Lionesses”
Siôn comments “I am beyond proud to have been offered the position of Head Coach of Ampthil Ladies Lionesses.
Having discussed the position with the DoR, I was impressed with Clubs vision, passion and commitment to their Women’s Team moving forward. Most coaches enjoy the off season, but I am eager to start my journey with the Lionesses.
It is an exciting time to be involved in women’s rugby. With the success of the Red Roses, the Premier 15’s and the Inner Warrior programme, there is a positivity surrounding the women’s game that I consider myself fortunate to be part of.
The ambition is to carry this momentum and positivity into our game and create a culture, brand and style of rugby the Lionesses, the club and its community can be proud of.”
Pre-Season starts on Weds 3rd July. New players are welcome to join this summer – email lionesses@ampthillrufc.com for more information
