Paul Turner Signs New Contract Extension
Director of Rugby Mark Lavery is delighted to confirm that Head Coach Paul Turner has extended his contract in advance of Ampthill’s first season in the Championship.
Paul, capped at fly half for Wales and formerly Head Coach of Newport Gwent Dragons, has been at Ampthill for seven years and has overseen three promotions in that period as the ambitious newly promoted Bedfordshire side surged through the leagues.
Head Coach Paul Turner comments “I am really pleased to have committed to Ampthill for a further period. It has been a pleasure working with Mark Lavery throughout my time here and I am excited to continue our relationship as we move to the next stage of this project.
The Championship is a highly competitive league and we understand the challenges it will present. However, we are look forward to the opportunity to compete against established and successful rugby clubs.”
DoR Mark Lavery comments “Paul has been an integral part of the Club’s recent success and it seemed natural to continue our partnership as we embark on the next stage of our journey, the Greene King IPA Championship.
Paul heads a new coaching team including former Harlequin hooker David Ward and former Bedford and Nottingham scrum half Darryl Veenendaal. We do not underestimate the massive task ahead, however, with Paul and the new coaching team in place, we look forward to embracing those challenges.”
