After a lengthy break due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, Ampthill welcomes old friends and local rivals Bedford Blues to Dillingham Park tomorrow, Sat 20th February in the first of two double-header friendlies!
These games are intended to give both squads an opportunity to try some new player combinations, build some chemistry and gain essential match fitness in what will be a short but intense Greene King IPA Championship season. These games may be ‘friendlies’ but with Bedfordshire bragging rights at stake both teams will be looking to record a positive result.
Tomorrow’s game Kicks Off at 1pm and is available on a livestream through 247.tv at a cost of £10.00: https://www.247.tv/champsrugby

Paul Turner says “We have 11 of the starting 15, and 7 of the bench so a total of 18 players making their Ampthill debut’s in the matchday squad of 24 players, so our supporters will have to be patient while the boys find their feet.
Bedford will be very strong opposition. They will benefit from their new partnership with Northampton Saints and that will bring lots of Premiership capability and know-how to the Blues organisation.
It’s enormously exciting and a real privilege to be playing rugby again given the terrible crisis going on around us, and I think it’s our job to raise the mood in the county and give hope for the future. The vaccination program is making great strides and hopefully, we can return to some form of normality in the not too distant future.
Come on you A’s!”
