Team News: Caldy v 1st XV, Sat 5th Nov

Ampthill Head Coach Paul Turner has named his squad to face Caldy in the Championship Cup tomorrow.

Ampthill last visited the Paton Field in National One in October 2018 and lost by one point that day – the competition between the teams continued two weeks ago when the Mob eventually won 26 – 24 in the Championship and Turner expects a “a real challenge”

Turner makes four personnel and two positional changes to the XV that started against Doncaster Knights last weekend – Dom Hardman returns to the front row in place of Aleki Lutui who is away with Tonga Rugby League, whilst in the backs Mob old-boy Sam Hanks makes his first start of the season at inside centre and is partnered by Brandon Jackson as Josh Bragman moves to fly-half! Conor Rankin moves to full -back this week, Josh Skelcey retains his place after a battling display last weekend and Finlay Parker gets his first start having impressed in the 1881s!

Ahead of the fixture Turner said “Caldy gave us a hell of a game two weeks ago and we were fortunate to get a result from the game, they’ll be a real challenge at home! We’ve trained well this week but will need to be at our best in front of a big crowd tomorrow afternoon!”
