Back Row Squad For 2018/19
Ampthill, Beds – DoR Mark Lavery is delighted to confirm signings and retentions of back row forwards for National 1 for 2018-19.
Having been previously dual registered William Allman joins the club full time this season from Northampton Saints, an athletic and mobile flanker he adds to the competition for the three back row places.
Sydney Blackmore, former Wales U20 and Bath flanker had a flying start to his fulltime Ampthill career last season before picking up an injury which restricted his appearances.
Outstanding England Counties openside flanker Joe Bercis has signed a two-year deal to stay at Dillingham Park. Joe had another fantastic season last year which culminated in him representing his country on the tour of Romania.
Chris Diamond continues his development in the back row but can also cover Wing having been a regular fixture in the 1881s last year.
Charlie Frankham joins the club from Wellingborough after impressing in the Bill Beaumont County Championship with East Midlands last season.
Club, 1stXV Captain and Player of the Season last year Billy Johnson (capped for England Counties) typically starts in the back row and then moves to lock during games.
Evergreen Tongan International Maama Molitika signs on for another year and continues to be a contender for best the Number 8 in National 1.
Promising former Academy product Lewis Sharp has returned from a season in New Zealand. Lewis played a number of games in Zoo 1 last season and is tipped to go far by the coaching team.
Hayden Thomas, also an Academy product, has already played two games for the 1881s in pre-season against Henley and Fylde. He made his competitive debut in Zoo 1 last week at home against Barnes.
