U14’s DPP Trials, Team Info & New Players

On Thursday night (1st Nov) under the floodlights at Luton RFC, some of our boys were put through their paces at the Northampton Saints Developing Player Pathway (DPP) trial.

It was great to see so many of our squad get a chance to shine in front of the Saints coaches, and the boys really enjoyed themselves. Whether or not they are selected to join the DPP this year, we’re very proud to see them do well in this competitive environment.

Ampthill U14s provides rugby for players in Year 9 (Sept 2023). In the 2023/24 season we will play friendly matches and compete in Pool A of the Herts-Middlesex Junior League and in the East Midlands Cup.

We have a squad of approximately 40 players, allowing us to run two teams most Sunday mornings. Our philosophy is ‘two teams – one squad’. This means that while we select players by ability, we train together, share coaches and ensure all the boys get to know one another. We also have regular movement of players between our teams, which provides opportunities to play in different positions and helps develop confidence and leadership skills.

If you are interested in joining a training session to see if Ampthill might be the right club for you, please contact the Head Coach, Russ Pitts. We train on a Tuesday from 6pm until 7.15pm and you will be warmly welcomed by the players and coaches.

Welcome to our new players!

This season we have been joined by a great new group of boys – some experienced players, some who have played at younger age groups but have been out of the game for a while, and some who are completely new to rugby. They’ve had a fantastic impact on our squad.

If you are interested in joining us, please contact the Head Coach, Russ Pitts.
