U9 2016 – 17 Season Review

The players started contact in September and following the 5 week focus on basic contact our first match against Olney was a total success with the opposition remarking how well our players had grasped the concept of contact already. We have had a lot of matches, some against some new teams and in the majority of cases we have been able to shine through with some fantastic plays and working as a team.
The Beds Festival was a success (even if a bit muddy – see photos below) with our two mixed teams winning all of their five games each with ease.

At the Peterborough Festival all of our players had some great games, the majority of wins too !
Our Coaches as always have played a huge part of this transition to contact and I would like to say thank you to them all for their effort using their wealth of experience and ability to communicate effectively with all of our players has shone through whilst continuing to upgrade and improve their knowledge through participation in the RFU courses.
A resounding success as always was the Team Dance by the U9’s Coaches on Tour for our players and 7 men dressed as minions with Head Coach as Gru is always a sight to behold!

Our parents have continued to support our coaches and players whilst each player had the difficult task of getting used to contact and getting stuck in.
Next season will see us starting to ruck and I am sure they will tackle this with as much enthusiasm as they did contact this year, Well Done Everyone.
