“Ampthill Team to face Knights Duel!”
After a frustrating trip to Jersey where his team came away with a draw, Paul Turner makes minimal changes for the visit of Doncaster Knights to the Grange Jaguar-Land Rover Bowl.
This is the third time that the Mob and the Knights have dueled in the Bowl, winning one game each, and this should be another keenly contested affair.
Sam Crean and Billy Harding return to the front row alongside Aleki Lutui as the only two changes in a pack that competed with full-time Jersey last weekend. Captain Charlie Beckett and Llewelyn Jones continue at lock whilst Jac Arthur, Austin Wallis and last week’s Man of the Match Morgan Monks complete a now familar looking back row!
Only one change in the backs as evergreen Kevin Barrett rotates with Ewan Fenley at scrum-half alongside Russell Bennett.
Carl Burgess is again among the Ampthill substitutes and is joined this week by new signing George Thornton and Saracens Ollie Stonham.
Paul Turner comments ahead of the game “Another solid week of training ahead of another game against full-time opposition when Doncaster come to Dillingham Park. I felt we left some points on the table in Jersey but sometimes in rugby you don’t get what you deserve. Tomorrow will be a different challenge and promises to be a great game with two attack minded sides”
Captain Charlie adds “We were gutted that we couldn’t finish the job and get a win last weekend but there aren’t many tougher away trips Jersey, and I was proud of the boys performance. We can’t wait to get back on the field at Dillingham Park tomorrow and try to build on that result – hopefully with a few of the Mob faithful cheering us on”
