Members of the Ampthill 1881 squad were invited to the league winners' presentation for the Zoo Sports Shield. Presenting the award at the East India Club in St. James Square, London was league patron and New Zealand All Black Legend, Sean Fitzpatrick. Picking up the award were Michael Lavery, Coach Alan Brown, Team Manager Nick Stephenson and Director of Rugby Mark Lavery. A great evening to round off a fantastic season for the 1881's. The Committee would like to thank all of the members and local residents who took time to attend the Extraordinary General Meeting last night at Dillingham Park. The purpose of the meeting was for the Committee to present plans for the proposed relocation of the Club to a new fit-for-purpose site at Fordfield Road, almost opposite Centre Parcs and less than ½ mile from our current location. On a memorable day for Ampthill Rugby, the club's senior amateur side completed a second successive season unbeaten in league and cup rugby. Courtesy of sponsor Phil Howes, both Jets and the Extras shared a coach to their final venues of Cheshunt and Enfield respectively. Thank you Phil for all your support all season. In what turned out to be the biggest day in Ampthill RUFC's history, our Champions elect finished the season in fine style with a 52 v 20 win on the road at Loughborough University. The A's started well, controlling territory and possession despite playing into a very strong wind.
