  • A tricky start to Block Two as the MOB are beaten by Cov
Oct 31, 2026

The MOB travelled to the Nick Newbold Stadium to face Coventry Rugby in round six of the Elior Champ season.

Following four wins in five to cap off a successful block one, the A’s would look ahead to a tricky set of block two fixtures.

Sunny conditions would set up the perfect weather for running rugby in the Midlands, with both teams happy to show off their attacking skills.

Cov would open the scoring early, Dafydd-Rhys Tuieti breaking the line before setting up Tom Ball who ran in under the posts, converted by Bruce Houston.

The MOB would respond well and two scores from hooker, Harrison Dakin would give the A’s the lead at the break.

The first one coming off the back of a driving maul, the hosts unable to stop the push, converted by Finn Keylock, 7-12.

Before the second came from a close range effort in near identical fashion as Dakin again touched down this time just before the half-time whistle.

A cagey first 40 had seemed remain in the second, as the MOB saw the opportunities within the Coventry 22’ limited.

Much like the first half, the hosts got off to the quicker start, Jonny Benz-Soloman driving over from close range from a line out, Houston converting from the tee.

Cov would be able to show more of their attacking skills as they would score two quick fire tries, Morgan Strong and Murray Davidson both capitalising on driving mauls, both again converted 28-12.

The A’s had stayed in the game at times and again would show their skills, this time Joe Browning over in the corner following a raft of penalties at the breakdown, 28-17.

Last year’s beaten semi-finalists, Coventry, would finish the strongest Senitiki Nayalo darting round the breakdown to cap off a tricky afternoon in the Midlands for the MOB, 35-17.

The A’s now turn their focus to next weekend’s double header at the StoneX Stadium as they welcome Ealing Trailfinders to North London.
