Five Backs complete Mob Summer Recruitment!

To conclude the introduction of new faces ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Nottingham Rugby, Head Coach Paul Turner has confirmed another five new signings to provide competition across the backline

Dynamic centre Ewan Greenlaw (1.80m, 100kg)  joins from Newcastle Falcons where he made appearances from the bench in both the Gallagher Premiership and European Challenge Cup last season!

Older Mob supporters will remember Fraser Strachan (1.88m, 99kg) who made six appearances for the Maroon & Gold during the 2017-18 season in National One! Capped by England at U18s, Fraser attended Bedford School and was with Northampton Saints where he made 4 First XV appearances before playing for both Ealing Trailfinders and Doncaster Knights in the Championship.

Completing a trio of centres is another ‘old face’ Oli Morris (1.78, 87kg) who signs for Ampthill after joining Munster due to  the unfortunate demise of Worcester Warriors. Oli spent the 2018/19 season on loan with the Mob and was part of the National One winning team!

Wing Jack Spittle (1.88m, 96kg) requires little introduction to Championship Rugby fans. A prolific try-scorer with both Nottingham Rugby and Doncaster Knights over the last six seasons – he broke the Mob hearts 2 seasons ago with a length of the field, match winning try right on the bell for Knights at The Olney Field. The Mob will love him to do the same wearing Maroon & Gold!

Scrum Half Harri Williams joins the Mob after 4 Seasons at the Scarlets. Harri recently played for Wales in the Under 20’s World Cup in South Africa. He is a former St Josephs (Ipswich) Schoolboy who was part of Northampton Saints Academy.

Head Coach Paul Turner “The backs division required less recruitment, but I’m really pleased to add players of the calibre of Fraser, Oli, Jack, Ewan and Harri who all bring experience and leadership to a young squad. All exciting prospects which will add competition to the squad, I’m excited with the talent we have recruited”
