U7 2017-2018 End of Season Review

A fantastic season of rugby has been had by all in the Under 7 Team. This was the team’s first taste of competitive rugby … obviously the eagled eyed coaches were not keeping score!

Skills that have been specifically targeted include encouraging the players to pass on the move and looking to pass, before being tagged. This has increased the games momentum and improved the pace of play, and overall performance.

This season we have enjoyed travelling around the County for fixtures and have always been made very welcome by the hosting club. The player’s focus and dedication has been commended by the opposing coaches, a testament to their hard work and support from parents. As long as there are hot dogs and burgers supplied, the girls and boys are happy.

As the season progressed, the Under 7’s embarked upon their first ever Rugby Tour, destination Costa Del Yarmouth. It did not disappoint! Fancy dress and Kangaroo Courts were the highlight for some, but not for all!! Not only was a fantastic time had by all, but the rugby did not disappoint. The team showed Wymondham and Norwich Rugby club that Ampthill RFC are a force to be reckoned with, through well drilled attack and defence, determination and perseverance,  and good old team spirit.

The girls, boys and parents are hugely committed and have developed well as a team. A team that would not be able to run without the dedication of the coaches. I am very lucky to have their support, and would like to thank Tony Millward (Team Manager), Simon Turner (Fundraising Manager/ Coach), Phil Lane, Johnny Wilkinson, Russell Mc Christie, Gianpaolo Mantini, Lee Moffett, Stuart Cheadle and Rob Norris, who have supported me throughout the season.
