Head Coach Paul Turner has confirmed Ampthill’s final signing ahead of the Championship season opener against Cambridge on Saturday, as fly-half Josh Barton (1.75m, 83kg) joins from Jersey Reds.
Josh learnt to play at Berkhamsted School and has previously represented Saracens at U18s, England Students and captained Exeter University to consecutive BUCS Super Rugby titles before joining Jersey this summer. He played in both of the Reds Prem Rugby Cup games against Bath and Exeter Chiefs.
Josh comments “I’m excited at the opportunity to join the Mob and can’t wait to see what we can achieve this season”
Paul Turner adds “We’ve been following Josh’ development since he was at Berkhamsted School, he was a standout player in the BUCS league at Exeter University and latterly at Jersey Reds. He is a quality addition to our squad.”
