The U8s have had a fabulous season in 2017-18. I would like to thank the hard work and dedication of the team of volunteer coaches who give up their time every Sunday. Come rain or shine they turn out for the love of the game and to ensure the kids are having fun and making progress. A particular thank you must be reserved for Anita Jarrett. As the team manager she has the far more difficult task of raising funds, communicating with coaches and parents and organising yet another fantastic tour. Without her support, constant energy and drive the job would be a far more difficult one…. so Anita…. thank you, from coaches, parents and kids. You are brilliant!
On to the kids…. We have a brilliant group of children who work hard every week to improve. They are developing key skills of running, passing and catching, dodging, tagging, communication and team work. These skills will stand them in good stead for the coming year and for years ahead. Perhaps more importantly they are learning skills of listening, understanding, empathy, friendship, respect and camaraderie. I am very proud of the children for their effort, their attitude and their continual skill development. Well done kids..
As a year group we have travelled around the county and beyond and played some fantastic rugby. Despite not be able to keep score in games, it is clear that we have won far more games than we have lost as the kids are keen to track tries scored and conceded and they inform the coaches regardless, much to our pleasure! Perhaps the greatest reward for our coaching staff and kids is the feedback we receive from opposition coaches who regularly complement our style of play, our kids ability and the hospitality we show. Well done children. It has been a truly brilliant season and we look forward to beginning contact next season as U9s and all the challenges that brings with it. The kids are ready, the coaches are ready, the parents are ready… lets see if our opponents are!
Final mention goes to all the parents. Thank you for your support, for bringing your kids every week and for supporting the coaches and the club. We have a brilliant set up. Lets keep it going into next year.
