Head Coach Paul Turner has confirmed the signing of three Back Rows for the 2022-23 season, two proven Championship performers, and another exciting Welsh prospect!
Caleb Montgomery (1.91m, 108kg) joins the Mob from Worcester Warriors but spent last season on loan with Cornish Pirates making 15 appearances in the Championship, scoring one try!
Harry Wilson (1.92m, 114kg) joins from London Scottish where he made 7 appearances having played 12 times for Hartpury in the previous season.
Finally 21-year-old, number eight Morgan Strong (1.87m, 104kg) joins from Ospreys. He came through the ranks at Tondu RFC before studying at Bridgend College. Morgan has 5 caps with Wales at U20’s. Â
Forwards Coach Mouritz Botha comments “We know a fair bit about Caleb and Harry – both were fierce competitors when we played Pirates and Scottish last season and they add competition for starting places in the back row with Cai (Devine), Joey (Bercis) and Paddy (Ryan)!
Morgan is a young talent – he was offered another contract by Ospreys but chose to join Ampthill to play more rugby. That says everything about his character and ambition. We’re excited to see what he brings to the team and equally excited to help Morgan realise his potential.
